Questions
Everything you might reasonably ask.
Ten questions, answered straight. If yours is not here, the form below reaches us directly and a person replies.
Is there actually collagen in this?
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Collagen is an animal protein, so a 100% vegan product cannot contain it. Anyone selling you “vegan collagen” is selling you the building blocks, not collagen.
What Lovu gives your body is the raw material and the co-factors it uses to make its own: glycine and glutamic acid at 150 mg each, alongside 200 mg of L-Glutathione and 20 mg of vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to collagen formation for the function of your skin.
Worth knowing: no health authority has approved a beauty claim for animal collagen either.
What is in it, and how much?
Fourteen active ingredients in two gummies, and every dose is printed on the label. No proprietary blends, nothing hidden behind the word “complex”.
L-Glutathione 200 mg · Glycine 150 mg · Glutamic Acid 150 mg · Biotin 1,000 mcg · Vitamin E 45 mg · Vitamin C 20 mg · Vitamin D 50 mcg · Riboflavin 5 mg · Omega-3 5 mg · Zinc 3 mg · Vitamin B-6 2 mg · Pantothenic Acid 2 mg · Vitamin B-12 8 mcg · Folate 100 mcg DFE.
Set with pectin from fruit, sweetened with xylitol, strawberry flavour. The full panel is on the jar.
What makes Lovu different from other collagen brands?
Every dose is printed. 200 mg of L-Glutathione, 1,000 mcg of biotin, 50 mcg of vitamin D. The biotin is deliberately 1,000 mcg, a sensible dose, not the 10,000 mcg mega-dose found in many hair gummies.
No added sugar. We sweeten with xylitol, so a serving carries none.
Built for this climate. Indoor jobs, air conditioning and covered clothing are the reality here. A 2019 study of 12,346 Abu Dhabi adults found 72% of Emirati adults were vitamin D deficient, so the formula carries a real 50 mcg of vitamin D rather than a token amount.
How long until I see results?
Honest timeline, not seven days.
Weeks 1 to 2. Nothing visible yet. This stage is about building the habit.
Weeks 4 to 6. Nails are usually first, simply because they grow out fastest. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of your hair, skin and nails.
Around week 8. Hair. It does not grow faster than it grows. Biotin contributes to the maintenance of your hair.
Weeks 8 to 12. Skin is the slowest of the three.
One bottle is 30 days, so plan for two to three before you judge it. Anyone promising a visible change in a week is not being straight with you. Individual results vary.
How do I take them, and what do they taste like?
Two gummies a day. That is the whole routine.
Morning or night, with food or without, whichever you will actually remember. Taking them with a meal helps a little with the fat-soluble vitamins D and E.
They taste like strawberry, soft, closer to a sweet than a supplement, which is rather the point if you hate swallowing pills. No added sugar.
Practical tip: keep the bottle next to your coffee machine. Out of sight is out of mind, and taking them every day matters far more than the time of day.
Why AED 199 when I have seen collagen for AED 99?
Because you can read our label.
A cheaper jar is usually cheaper for one of three reasons: a smaller dose, a proprietary blend that hides the doses, or simply fewer actives. Ours prints all fourteen with their quantities, including 200 mg of L-Glutathione and 1,000 mcg of biotin.
AED 199 covers 30 days, which is AED 6.63 a day. Two bottles is AED 340, or AED 170 each, which happens to be the 60 days our own timeline says you should give it.
Is it really vegan, and is it gelatin free?
Yes to both, and the details are the interesting part.
Most gummies are set with gelatin, which is animal-derived. Ours are set with pectin, which comes from fruit.
Most supplement vitamin D is D3, taken from sheep’s wool or fish oil. Ours is ergocalciferol, vitamin D2, which is plant-derived.
No bovine, no marine, no animal collagen anywhere in the formula.
Are there allergens, and is it safe to take every day?
It is formulated for daily use. The full ingredient list is printed on the jar and shown on this page, so please read it if you have specific allergies.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor first. Not because we think there is a problem, but because every pregnancy is different and your doctor knows yours.
Before a blood test, mention the biotin. High-dose biotin can interfere with some laboratory tests, including thyroid tests.
Keep them away from dogs. Xylitol is perfectly safe for people and toxic to dogs.
How should I store them?
Somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight and away from heat.
In plain terms: do not leave them in your car in a Dubai summer. A kitchen counter or a cupboard at room temperature is fine.
The bottle is airtight, so they keep for months as long as you close the lid properly.
